I Don't Think You Know What I Feel

This past Sunday, the diva of all divas, Annie Lennox was given the Award of Merit during the 2008 American Music Awards.

I missed the show, but caught her performance on the Internets. She sang my all time favorite song, Why?

It was a good performance, but nothing compares to the way she sang the hell out of that song at Arista's 25th Anniversary Celebration a few years's the video of her singing that song (the way I like it):

'Tis The Season

I can't believe that Christmas is only a month away. It seems like only yesterday I was pulling out the Halloween decorations. They just started to decorate around the workplace and I have to say, that the designer has got to be a flaming queen some real style. Each tree is just bursting with decorations, so much so, that you can hardly see the tree's branches.

I'm excited about Christmas. It really is my favorite time of the year. Some coworkers were grumbling about how they're not looking forward to it and how expensive it all is. I find that mind set sad. That's not what Christmas is to me. It's all about the food for me. Well, that of course, as well as the many sights & sounds of the holidays, getting together with family & friends, and did I mention all of the food? My family have all decided that this year, we're not getting anyone gifts except for the children...and that's just fine with me. I may break that rule a little bit and make gift baskets for everyone.

I'll probably pull out some of the Xmas decorations on Sunday, and start to spread some Holiday cheer at mi casa. Season's Greetings, Betches!

Shoulda Stayed in Bed

I think that the universe has a way of sending us signals that something bad is about to happen....animals are definitely in tune with this signaling. I received a couple signals from Mother Earth early today that I should've just kept my cold arse in my cold bed...but I chose not to listen.

While making breakfast, I cut my left middle finger with a knife this morning. This really upset me, because now I wont be able to do a Double Eagle flip off as I'm dealing with L.A. traffic...I mean, it'd just look too lame trying to pull that off with a giant bandage on my finger.

I slammed the shower door on my right hand, whilst getting in the shower...I thought that I might have broken a finger at first....the pain was seriously bad.

Someone at work had made mini breakfast burritos (regular sized burritos cut in half). I greedily accepted one (my second breakfast), and within a couple of minutes, got salsa in my right eye. It burned like a b*tch!!

The Communications guy in our group called in sick, so I've been asked to take on his responsibilities today (and possibly the rest of the week)....normally it's not a problem, but the month end report (basically a newsletter of current events) is due in 2 days and I have to scramble to throw it together.

Needless to say, quitting time can't come any sooner.

Don't Put Me Off; Cuz I'm on Fire !

Ever since Tuesday morning, I've been running fevers & dealing with an achy body. I ache all over....even my hair hurts. I'm pretty sure that this the beginning of a flu coming on, but usually I only have to deal with aches/fevers for a day, so I'm starting to get a little concerned. I was in training sessions all day Tuesday & Wednesday, which made dealing with the pain a real challenge. I called in sick yesterday and I stayed in bed all morning until 2:00 pm....I think that really helped.

I've been doing all the right things like drinking loads of water, eating soups/light meals, and really resting a lot. What's odd about the fevers is that only my face & neck heat up, the rest of my body is freezing at times. Strange, no?

So I felt ok enough this morning to make it in to work. I have a team project that needs to be finalized today, and I really don't want to be the one that holds it up. The aches are subsiding & the hot flashes are minimal too.

The thing that bothers me the most about being a sicky is that I had to use an actual sick day this week....I save those days for playing hooky from work, when I'm actually healthy and have somewhere to go or someone to do.

Time to get back to work, and by work I mean reading the 400+ blog posts that my reader tells me I've missed from my fave blogs.....busy busy!

Prop 8 National Protest Day: LBC

Saturday morning found me at Long Beach City Hall, to join the rest of the country (as well as some international folks) protesting the passing of Prop 8. I was really (pleasantly) surprised at the number of people that showed up, despite all of the falling ash from the California wildfires & warm Santa Ana winds that were blowing all of that nasty ash.

My only complaint about the event is that the area where the rally was staged, was in an enclosed courtyard that was invisible to anyone passing by...other than that, it was a pretty good (peaceful) protest.

These are truly amazing & historic times that we're living in. Here are a couple of pics and a video of Long Beach's rally:

Fight The H8

This Saturday, I'll be at City Hall, joining all the other "2nd class citizens" in every major city in America, for a National Proposition 8 rally.

Champagne...Champagne for Everyone !

Since my man & I took some much needed vacation time (Mon - Wed), I took a little blogging vay-cay as well....and what a nice little vacation it was too. We spent a lot of time licking each other running errands, furniture/appliance moving, working on the "honey-do" list, and just hanging out, laughing & loving our time together. We even managed to sneak in some time for Disneyland !

You know, we were literally by each other's side, for nearly 72 hours, and after all that time together, neither of us had any urges to kill or maim the other....that's a first for me and a very good sign for our relationship.

On a completely unrelated note, I recently discovered (and introduced Paul to) Little Britain USA...(catch old episodes on HBO or check out YouTube).

It's the funniest damn show I've seen in a long time. Paul has even started to mimic one of my favorite characters on the show, Bubbles Devere. I think I'm going to try to convince him to dress up as Bubbles, next Halloween.

Yes, We Did !

Congratulations Mr. President...

I am both thrilled & relieved that my fellow Americans made the right choice....I'm not too proud to admit that as I sat in front of the TV last night, listening to Obama's speech, I got a little teary eyed at times...what an amazing speech!

As for Proposition 8, well it looks like it's going to pass and right now, I'm feeling a bit stunned, and I 'm having difficulty really believing / comprehending that my home state is filled with that many people, who feel that their fellow gay citizens should be considered 2nd class citizens... and that we should be denied the same rights that are afforded to heteros.

I have one wish for everyone who voted Yes on 8...and that wish is that each of them has at least one gay child. Maybe then the realization of how hurtful/discriminating their "yes vote" is will come crashing down on them.

Election Day!

As anxious as I am feeling about today's election results, I still have faith in the American people to do the right thing & to make the right decision(s).

That's all I'm going to listen to Deee-Lite and if you haven't done so already:
